Loughmore Castleiney GAA Club

LUACH MAIGH/CAISLEAIN AOIBHNE C.L.C.G.
 
A.G.M.  The A.G.M. of the club was held in Castleiney hall on Saturday night last 23rd January with a fine attendance.  Details along with adjourned convention next week.
 
U/21 Training:  With the championship due to commence on February 6th, our U.21 footballers have commenced training.  We expect a full attendance present at all sessions.
 
Juvenile Club A.G.M.;  The juvenile A.G.M. was held in Castleiney hall on Thursday night with a nice size attendance present.
Chairman Brendan Maher, addressing the meeting thanked his fellow officers for their work in a mixed for the club.  The parish tragedy in May left its mark on the club and parish and he expressed his sympathy to the Stapleton family and all who suffered bereavements during the year.
He went on the congratulate the U/14 teams on their Mid final and Mid league victories.  The U/16 footballers were most unlucky in the County final losing in a thriller in extra time to Clonmel Commercials.  He said the recent presentation night in Loughmore was an extraordinary occasion.  Brendan also expressed his thanks to the work of the schools in the parish and congratulated them on their successes.
Secretary Pat O Connell produced in excellent detail all the club activities during 2009 on and off the field.  The activity week in Cuiguilla was once again a huge success for all involved.  He expressed his thanks to all mentors, helpers at Saturday morning training and the parents of the players for their dedication and involvement.
Following many years of excellent work as club treasurer Bernie McGrath once again produced in great detail the clubs healthy finances.  However as she stated to last years meeting that it would be her final year the meeting respected her decision to do so and expressed their gratitude for her excellent work over the years

U/16 Football and Hurling:  Paddy Hennessy
U/14 Football and Hurling:  Willie Butler
U/12 Football and Hurling:  Pat McGrath
U/10 Football and Hurling:  Tom McGrath(K)
(Each manager to appoint own selectors)
 
Finally new Parish Priest Fr. Corbett addressed the meeting.  He congratulated the club and schools on the great work with the youth of the parish and said it was most important to keep game activity strong in the parish.  He stated in his short time in the parish he was greatly impressed overall and wished the club every success for 2010.
 
Astro Turf:  Astro turf training will resume on Monday night from 7.15pm to 8.15pm for ages 10 to 16 years. Cost 2euro per head.
Also on the same night U/10 training in Loughmore Hall from 6.45pm to 7.45pm.
 
Scor:  Our best wishes to our Trath na Gceist team who defend their Munster and All Ireland title in Munster final in Mallow on this Sunday. Niamh, Pairic and Joseph along with coach Murt have prepared excellently and lets hope honours come their way.
 
Senior Adjourned Convention:  This meeting will take place in Loughmore Hall at 8.15pm on this Saturday night.  A large attendance is expected with a lot of business to be attended to on the night.

Presentation Night: Our presentation night held in a packed Loughmore Community Centre on Friday night last was a terrific occasion for one and all. Championship medals were presented to our U/14 Mid and League champions, U/16 Mid football ,Minor Mid and County hurling and Mid football with Mid medals going to our U/21 A footballers and senior footballers.

All the winning captains were introduced with their cups and trophies, including Scor na nOg All Ireland winners, senior Scor County champions in question time and solo song. Highlight of the night was the introduction of Noel McGrath with his All Star and Young Hurler of the Year awards, where he received a standing ovation from the crowd.

U/14 medals were presented by Noel McGrath and U/16 by Michael Webster. Pat Cullen presented U/21, Sean Mockler senior football and Joe Grady presented the minor hurlers with the Mid and County A medals. Speakers on the night were Mid chairman senior board Matty Ryan, and juvenile board Joe Kennedy. Our development chairman Jimmy Hennessy and fund raising chairman Eamon Sweeney and Parish Priest Fr. Corbett addressed the congregation. Dick Egan, club chairman on behalf of the club made a presentation to Noel McGrath in recognition of his achievements during 2009.

No words could describe the fantastic sit down meal provided by the ladies on the night with variety and plenty of it. For everyone in attendance our sincere thanks to each and everyone.

Prize Winners: Jimmy Hennessy, Whitefield, a first prize winner of 15,000 euro in the December draw and John Fogarty, Killahara also a prize winner were presented with their cheques on the night. Music was provided by local musicians John Joe and Kathleen Nesbitt and their helpers. The County Board Draw for January was then held, however we had no local winner on the night.

Scor na nOg: Congratulations to our question time team of Niamh Ryan, Padraic and Joseph Hennessy who on Saturday night last in Cappamore qualified for the Munster final in Mallow on Sunday 31st. Well done to all.

Juvenile A.G.M. The A.G.M. of the club will be held in Castleiney Hall on this Thursday night at 8.00pm. We expect a large attendance of parents at this important meeting.

Senior Club A.G.M.; The A.G.M. of the club will take place in Castleiney Hall at 8.15pm on this Saturday night. Mass for deceased members will be held at 6.30pm in Castleiney Church.

A large turnout of players is requested on the night where a lot of important work has to be done.

Apologies for not updating sooner

The Club Presentation night has been changed to Friday January 15th 2010 at 8.00pm SHARP in Loughmore Hall. A buffet meal will be served to all. With Medals to be presented to U14′s, U16′s, Minors, U21′s and Seniors a large turnout is expected. The plans for the redevelopment of  Clubhouse will also be displayed with work due to commence in the next week or so.

 The Tipperary Co. Board Draw for January will also take place.

The Club AGM has been deferred to Friday 22nd January in Castleiney hall at 8.00.
